Divine friends,

What is this consciousness flowing through my brain? Can it be other than divine? What is this life flowing through my veins — Can it be other than divine? I am one with the infinite aum!

This chant and the quote above highlight the physical and metaphysical crossroads of our human body. Sometimes we feel our physical body is a hindrance to our spiritual aspirations, and indeed it is in many ways because it houses our limitations as well as our divinity. What we are undertaking through our practice of meditation is not a suppression of our physical body, but a quieting. One may say, I have tried to meditate, but my monkey mind won’t let me, or my body is too restless, or nothing happens, or I fall asleep, or it is too boring, or I can’t sit on the floor (you don’t have to). One may even feel a sense of shame for having “failed”. These are commonplace experiences and never the end of the story. Far from it, these are all growing pains that prove you are trying. God sees our directionality and responds. Keep moving in the right direction, and you will find your divine power stirring up and feeding your physical being and life ever more.
